Solider Challenge

Mrs Mundy enjoys real hands on experiences and today was not exception. We borrowed two backpacks and stuffed they full with all sorts of things to make them heavy. Heading downstairs we wondered what are we doing, it had been raining was Miss going to make us crawl through the mud. Yuck!

Arriving in the hall we moved 4 bench chairs and the large school wooden beam on to the middle of the stage. Making two teams we lined up at the far end of the hall.

You have to crawl under the seat jump up onto the stage go over the beam, touch the wall and turn around and come back.

"Easy," we all said.

"With the pack on you back," Miss said

"Oh?"

When we had finished with that task it was a matter of working together for the good old fashioned 3 legged races. Boy that was fun to watch, although I was ready to join one group but they decided to try a group of 3 people and 5 legs.

Rewards Day - Ice Skating

As a PB4L school we get to go on cool trips at the end of the term. This one was going to be cold so we didn't have to wear our uniform. Mrs Mundy had spare gloves and jackets and scarves (She is always wearing at least one scarf and a pair of gloves, probably because she leaves so early).

Two buses and a bunch of excited students and we were off. Mrs Mundy was great to laugh at she was slow and kept falling down. But she didn't give up (she knew she could do it).

Once Mrs Mundy was underway she helped us get on our feet too. But that didn't stop her nearly falling over with us.

Welcome, Haere Mai, Talofa, Kia Orana

Welcome to the new Room 9 Blog. It seemed only fair to start fresh with a link to the old Room 9. I started toward the middle of Term 2 working in the Rambunctious Room 9. We went on a field trip to the museum, following our learning about the World Wars.

The best part about the trip was getting to know more about the students. But their favourite part was was exploring the equipment the soldiers used during the war. They even though I had borrowed the water bottle for our class display. Until they realised my one still had the canvas around it. (It was my Great Grandfathers.)

Who I am?

Hi I am the new teacher to Room 9. I have been teaching in low decile school most of my career. My aim is to help students to be the best they can be. I love the new digital format chrome books and computers bring to education and see it as tremendously large part of the future of our children.

I look forward to going back to Nelson to visit my family, but most of them are now in Auckland.
