Swimming

It is that time of year again when the pool is open and we can jump in. I love to say dive, but even I can touch the bottom.

No time for mucking around (yet) we have 20 metres we can swim. You guys can do better! After 4 laps of freestyle with correct breathing and 3 back stroke and 2 breaststroke. We were starting to get a little tired. But when Miss said "Okay 2 bombs each" we were up and at  the wall quicker that you could say 'home time'.

Working together

We have all been given a rectangle to colour in. The rectangle is part of a larger picture. We have been asked to talk to the students with the pieces above, below and beside ours to help co-ordinate the colours. I wonder what will happen? Being a short week I wonder when it will be finished. We also have to colour in a paddle to help our waka move along the learning journey.

Welcome to 2022

We have moved and are now upstairs. We have two teams in our school working collaboratively. We are part of the Karearea Team. This is the logo on our term learning site. We have 3 classes with the teachers Mrs Mundy, Mrs Kumar and Mrs Haioti. The teachers are looking to getting to know everyone and have a lot of fun.

Number Patterns

I enjoy following numbers patterns it really is quite easy once you can see how the numbers in the sequence change.

How do you find algebra? Can you figure out the patterns?

Splish Splash I was not taking a bath

Swimming - we are so lucky to have our pool open, thank you Mr Ball. We go swimming on Tuesday and Wednesday. We start with a warm up as the water is slightly cold. We have a race to the other end (12.5 metres) and then play a game, ‘ships’ or ‘stuck in the mud’. We have used the noodles but they have to be cleaned each time a class uses them. Miss even taught us side stroke, where you lay on your lower arm positioned above your head and pulls the water to your middle, the other arm moves from the middle and pushes the water away. Feet are doing a scissor kick.

The tricky part was making sure we stayed 2 metres apart at least. Are you able to go swimming yet?

Creating Algebraic Equations

Today we are learning how to create the formula for the rule in an equation. we needed to remember to use a letter which symbolises a number that could be any number in a sequence for the 1st to the 500th and the formula could still work. We start using 'n' as the variable (number that changes), but the sheet referred to the 1st term and 2nd term so we thought this was easier to translate to 't'. Initially working out the formula was tricky, but then we got the hang of it. Can't wait until we do some more.

Brain Break

Today we were making posters about being safe back at school. After a while we needed a brain break. We had a fork, a cup and four straws. We were in teams of two.

We fast walked to the table and using one hand how to hold the fork and try to get all four straws on with out touching the straws with our other hand. Mrs Mundy lined all the straws up and got them all on at once. I wish I had thought to do that. Once all the straws were on the fork, we had to stand the fork in the cup. That was tricky because of the wind blowing in our class.

Have you ever had a brain break, What did you do?
