Estimating or Guessing

Using estimating helps me to figure out what the right answer should be near. When I work it out for real, I know I have gone wrong if it is too different. 

Sometimes, I wonder how far to round up like do I round $2.25 to $2.30 or $2.50. But I can double both and the estimate is similar.
